NATIONAL DEFENCE ACADEMY CONDUCTS 3RD NDA INLAND ENTERPRISE CHAMPIONSHIP

Post culmination of passing out parade, NDA conducted 3rd NDA Inland Enterprise Class Sailing Championship from 03 Jun to 06 Jun 17. Seventy Three sailing teams from all over the country competed to win the prestigious championship. Last year, championship entered the record books as largest sailing regatta held anywhere in the country.

As a part of the culmination ceremony of the championship and to commemorate World Environment Day, the Naval Training Team of NDA organised a Coastal Cleanship Drive on 05 Jun 17. All participants of 3rd NDA IEC, officers, sailors and civilian staff & their families from NDA cleaned four coastal locations Chowpatty, west bank of Mutha river, dry banks of downstream of Khadakwasla dam and approaches to Peacock Bay. Five truckloads of garbage and trash was collected and disposed off during the drive. The NDA Team also motivated the civilians, roadside vendors and onlookers to join them in the cleanship drive.

A total of 18 races were conducted on 04 days of racing at the picturesque Khadakwasla Lake. Sailing conditions varied from moderate to heavy winds on all four days with occasional gusts of 20 Knots at times.

Master Advait Menon of INWTC Mumbai sailing club bagged the youngest helmsman trophy where as the oldest helmsman trophy was won by Cdr ML Sharma of INWTC Kochi sailing club. Rolling trophy for youth champion (Helm & Crew) was won by Cdt Srihari L & Cdt Sachin Lamba of NDA sailing club. Best lady (helm & Crew) Rolling Trophy was won by Ramya Sarvanan & Mugdha Gupta respectively.    PP Muttu & SC Singha of Army Yachting Node, Mumbai emerged winners of National Defence Academy Inland Enterprise championship 2017.
