NCC Cyclothon Celebrating ‘Mahila Shakti’ Reaches Pune, Pays Tribute at National War Memorial

Pune, 28th December 2023: NCC Cycling expedition from Kanyakumari to New Delhi reached Pune today and was ‘Flagged In’ at National War Memorial.

Named as Mega Cyclothon “Mahila Shakti ka Abhedya Safar,” the expedition is commemorating 75 years of NCC. In consonance with the Nari Shakti Theme of Republic Day Parade 2024, the Cyclothon team consists of 11 Senior Wing (Girl) cadets led by team captain Brig NS Chaarag. In a bid to highlight the role of women towards the growth of India, the Cyclothon aims to exhort the youth to carry the story of India’s transformation and growth forward.

The expedition, which started from Kanyakumari on 8th December 2023, will culminate in New Delhi on 26th Jan 2024 after covering a whopping 3232KM along the western axis of India.

The expedition reached Pune on Wednesday, 27th Dec 2023, where it was ‘Flagged In’ at the National War Memorial by Wing Commander Suresh Mehendale (Retd), a 1971 War veteran, along with local NCC Cadets. Group Commander NCC of Pune, Brig Arjun Mitra, was also present. The cycling team then paid floral tributes to the fallen soldiers at the War memorial.

The Cycling team will visit the National Defence Academy Khadakwasla, followed by a visit to the iconic Fergusson College on 28th December. The Cyclothon will be flagged off to Panvel on 29th December.
