Delhi, 15 April 2021: NEET PG examination has been postponed in view of the ever-increasing corona infection cases in the country. The new exam date will be announced after the status review.

Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan gave this information today. This entrance examination was to be held on April 18 for admission in PG courses in medical colleges across the country. About 1.70 lakh students from all over the country were to appear for the exam.

Dr Harsh Vardhan said, “Keeping in mind the health and safety of young medical students, it has been decided to postpone the NEET-PG examination.”

NEET PG was also demanded to be postponed after the exams of various boards including CBSE, university exams and entrance exams were postponed. A group of doctors had also filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking to postpone the NEET-PG examination. The petition said that hundreds of candidates giving NEET PG are treating Covid patients these days. Calling them to the exam center to take the exam will threaten the lives of thousands of people.

The petition cited the central government’s decision to cancel the CBSE 10th exam and postpone the 12th exam. The petitioners have stated that earlier the private PG examination was to be held in January 2021 but it was postponed due to the status of Covid-19. But then the situation was much better than today. There were relatively fewer cases of Covid-19 infection then.
