Pune, 15th April 2021: Rising corona patients every day has pushed up the demand for Remdesivir injection which is required for treatment of serious COVID19 patients. However, the inadequate supply of this injection has agitated the relatives of the patients who have to run from pillar to post to get it.

Upset over the administration, relatives of such patients agitated in front of the district collector’s office. They are angry and helpless and want the administration to provide them with an adequate supply of it.

Many of them said that the injection is available in the black market. The wife of one of the patients said, “For the last four days I am moving from one place to another in search of the injection. It is given to those who can pay a hefty amount, but not to me. Is the government waiting for us to die?”

No supply of injection on Wednesday

The city and district did not get a single vial of the injection on Wednesday. On Monday and Tuesday, 12,797 injections were supplied for the city, but with rising cases, this is proving insufficient. There have been complaints that private hospitals are using more than is required.

Private hospitals dominating

Although there has been not a single case of a person dying in the want of Remdesivir injection, the private hospitals are telling the relatives to bring the injections or they will stop treating the patients.
