Pune, May 29th, 2024: A new twist has emerged in the Kalyani Nagar Porsche incident in Pune, where a minor allegedly under the influence of alcohol caused a fatal collision, claiming the lives of two youths on a bike. Recent reports reveal that two friends were present with the accused minor at the time of the accident. On Tuesday, May 28th, Pune Police recorded statements from these friends. Their eyewitness accounts are expected to play a crucial role in the upcoming court proceedings.

In the early hours of May 19th, a speeding Porsche collided with a two-wheeler, resulting in the immediate deaths of a young man and woman, both IT professionals. It was reported that a minor was behind the wheel of the sports car, accompanied by the car’s driver and two friends as passengers. Statements have now been taken from the car driver and both friends by the Yerawada Police.

Initially, the car driver attempted to take responsibility for the incident. However, a Pune Police Crime Branch investigation, aided by CCTV footage, uncovered that the driver falsely confessed under pressure from the accused minor’s father, Vishal Agarwal, and grandfather, Surendra Kumar Agarwal. The driver later reported that Surendra Kumar and Vishal Agarwal had coerced him into assuming responsibility for the crime.

Shailesh Balkawade, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime), confirmed that the friends of the minor accused have been interrogated, and their statements obtained are in line with the evidence and information gathered during the police investigation.

On Monday, May 27th, officials from Porsche AG, accompanied by a team from the Pune Regional Transport Office (RTO), endeavored to retrieve technical data from the Porsche involved in the accident. This data will include information about the car’s speed at the time of the collision, as well as camera footage from both the rear and front sides. While the report is pending submission, Additional Commissioner of Police Balkawade assured that it will be delivered soon.
