Pune, 2nd April 2023: The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has undertaken the construction of a new missing lane on the Mumbai-Pune expressway to reduce travel time by 20 to 25 minutes. Currently, 65% of the work on this new route, which runs between Khopoli and Kusgaon, has been completed, and the remaining work is being carried out at a fast pace.

According to the MSRDC, the construction work on the new lane will be completed by the end of December, and it will be open to traffic from January 2024. The Mumbai-Pune expressway has facilitated faster travel, but it has also seen an increase in accidents. In light of this, the MSRDC decided to construct a new missing lane between Khopoli and Kusgaon to prevent accidents and improve travel time.

The new route is 19.80 km long, and work on it began in February 2019. The MSRDC is confident that the new lane will not only reduce travel time but also ensure the safety of commuters traveling between Mumbai and Pune.
