Pune, December 9, 2020: The government has now swung action to reduce road accidents which are continuously increasing. In fact, in most cases of road accidents, bike riders suffer the most, in such a situation, the government has decided to make some necessary changes in their design to increase the safety of vehicles so that they can be made safe.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has also introduced new rules for the people riding on the back seat of the bike so that their safety will be ensured.

Grab rails for pillion rider

According to the new rules, now it will be mandatory to apply grab rails (handhold) on both sides of the back seat of the bike so that the person sitting behind the bike rider can get a good grip to maintain their position on the seat. It will help the person sitting behind to not lose their balance in the event of a stroke or a sudden break. Till now this feature was not provided in bikes. Not only that, but it will be necessary to place footrests at the sides of the bike so that the foot of the person sitting on the back seat is completely safe, as well as the left side of the back seat should be well covered so that the clothes of the pillion rider not get stuck in the tire or the chain cover.

Light container

By now you must have seen that people put heavy containers in their bikes to keep more and more items, due to which there is a problem in traffic as well as it becomes uncomfortable for the person sitting on the back seat. And due to being too heavy at times, this container also becomes the reason for bike misbalance. In such a situation, the government has given instructions to install lighter containers in bikes. The length of this container should not exceed 550 mm in length, 510 mm in width and 500 mm in height. If this container is located on the backside of the back seat of the bike, then a pillion rider will be allowed, and if it is placed on the side of the back seat then a pillion rider will not be allowed to sit.

Tire pressure monitoring

Tire pressure monitoring system is available in all the premium cars coming in the market nowadays. In such a situation, the government has now issued new guidelines regarding tires, according to which the suggestion of a tire pressure monitoring system has been introduced for vehicles up to a maximum weight of 3.5 tonnes. This system monitors the tire pressure of your vehicle and informs the driver sitting in the car if the pressure is low. This system prevents accidents caused by puncture or tire burst. Actually, this system monitors the tires with the help of sensors. The government has also suggested a tire puncture repair kit.
