New Year: On Night Of December 31, Major Roads In Pune City Will Be Closed For Traffic
Pune, 29th December 2022: Fergusson College Road (FC Road) and Mahatma Gandhi Road (MG Road) will be closed for vehicles on the last day of the year i.e. December 31.
DCP (Traffic Branch) Vijay Kumar Magar has informed that after reviewing the crowd on these two major roads in Pune after 7 pm, the said roads will be closed for vehicles.
Both FC Road as well as MG Road are crowded with people to celebrate the last night of the year. This leads to massive traffic jams and long queues of vehicles, accordingly, both these roads will be closed to traffic.
Police have also appealed to people not to drive under the influence of alcohol. The police will be keeping a close eye on those who “drink and drive”. Drivers can be fined Rs 1,000 and the vehicle can be impounded for driving under the influence of alcohol. After two years it has been decided to use the breathalyzer. If the driver is found to be under influence of alcohol, strict action has been given by the traffic department of the police.
