Shivajinagar, 3rd January 2024: A 24-year-old youth sustained head injuries during the New Year’s Eve celebrations at the Ministry of Dance, located on FC Road, Pune.

The incident took place when the victim, identified as Karan Shinde, accidentally knocked over a piece of wood on a table while on the dance floor. This seemingly trivial incident escalated into a heated argument, culminating in the bar owner assaulting Shinde with a glass bottle.

Following a complaint lodged by Shinde, a resident of Senapati Bapat Road, the Shivajinagar police have filed an FIR against Malhar Shivtare and Shlok Kamte of Ministry of Dance restaurant and bar.

Shinde, who runs a snacks center on Senapati Bapat Road, required three stitches on his head after the assault. He was promptly admitted to a private hospital on SB Road and has since been discharged.

The altercation transpired at approximately 3 am on Monday, January 1st, inside the bar. The dispute began when the wooden plank fell, disrupting the New Year’s Eve celebration attended by Shinde and his friends. The bar operators, apparently incensed by the disturbance, engaged in a verbal confrontation that quickly escalated.

Assistant Inspector Bholenath Ahiwale explained, “The situation became tense during the altercation, and in a fit of rage, the bar operator picked up an empty glass bottle and struck it on Shinde’s head.” Shinde and his friends were also threatened during the confrontation.

A case has been registered under sections 323 (assault) and 506 (causing intentional insult) of the Indian Penal Code. Ahiwale stated, “We have served notices to the bar operator and three other suspects, asking them to cooperate with the investigation.”
