New Delhi, 25th April 2025: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) is investigating the deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam where 26 people lost their lives. Among the victims were Pune residents Santosh Jagdale and Kaustubh Ganbote. NIA teams will visit their homes to gather details and record their families’ accounts of the incident.

Since the attack, NIA officials have been visiting the homes of the victims from Maharashtra. The goal is to piece together the timeline of events. Six people from Maharashtra were among the deceased—two from Pune, one from Panvel, and three cousins from Dombivli.

The attack occurred in the Baisaran area of Pahalgam, Anantnag district. In response to the attack, security forces released sketches of three suspected terrorists and have already demolished the homes of two suspects involved.

This attack is being called the worst in Kashmir since the 2019 Pulwama bombing. It was carried out by Lashkar-e-Taiba’s affiliate, The Resistance Front (TRF), on April 22. Baisaran, a remote meadow, can only be accessed by walking or horseback, making the attack all the more shocking. The Pulwama incident in 2019, which killed 40 CRPF personnel, had similarly shaken the nation.
