‘Nidhal: The Dalvi Pattern of Rural Development’ Book to be unveiled by Nana Patekar

Pune, 22nd May 2025: Once a drought-prone and underdeveloped village in Satara district, Nidhal (Tal. Khatav) has transformed into a model smart village over the past 41 years under the leadership of IAS officer and Chairman of Rayat Shikshan Sanstha, Chandrakant Dalvi. This remarkable journey of transformation, driven by the collective efforts of the villagers, professionals, and the working class, has now been chronicled in a book titled “Nidhal: The Dalvi Pattern of Rural Development”, authored by Sunil Chavan.
The book, which is expected to inspire rural development across India, will be officially released on Sunday, the 25th, at 11:15 AM at Balgandharva Rangmandir on Jangli Maharaj Road in Pune. Veteran actor and Naam Foundation president Nana Patekar, who has also penned the foreword, will attend the launch.
Several dignitaries will attend the event, including Pune Municipal Commissioner Dr. Rajendra Bhosale, District Collector Jitendra Dudi, and Chief Executive Officer Gajanan Patil. Special guests will include Rajendra Shinde, Executive Director of PRM Soft Solutions, and Sachin Itkar, Vice President of the Maharashtra Economic Development Council. A teaser of the documentary “Nidhal Gaav: The Journey of Transformation”, directed by Shankar Barve and produced by S.B. Productions, will also be unveiled during the event.
Nidhal has made notable progress in areas such as education, watershed development, agriculture, village sanitation, afforestation, institutional economic growth, entrepreneurship, and infrastructure development. The book aims to serve as a guiding model for rural progress across the country. The event is being organized by the Satva Foundation, with Dharmendra Pawar, Abhishek Dalvi, Shankar Barve, and Tabaji Kapse contributing to the success of the program, according to the foundation’s CEO, Sanjeev Kulagoud.
