No ban on firecrackers in Maharashtra, says CM Uddhav Thackeray

Pune, November 8, 2020: While addressing people through a live video, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray urged people to be self-disciplined and celebrate a cracker-free Diwali as Maharashtra has recorded a steady fall of Covid-19 cases. There is no ban imposed on bursting firecrackers, everyone can follow self-discipline and avoid bursting them.

“In Maharashtra, the COVID-19 situation has come under control but the second wave of the infection is expected. We all will celebrate Diwali with discipline. We should avoid bursting firecrackers as whatever we have achieved will go away in four days due to the pollution of firecrackers. I hope there will be no bursting of firecrackers in Public places, even though I am not imposing a ban or an emergency”, CM Uddhav Thackeray said.

Referring to the situation of Delhi he said, ” Due to pollution in Delhi we can see the rise in cases again. We all have tried to bring the graph of COVID-19 cases under control in Maharashtra, so it is our responsibility to keep control over pollution.”

CM Uddhav Thackeray also announced to reopen worship places in Maharashtra after Diwali by issuing all the necessary guidelines. He emphasised on the importance of wearing a face mask and said that wearing a mask will be mandatory even in the places of worship.
