No Registration Fee For New Ganesh Mandals, Written Guarantee Removed: CM Eknath Shinde

Mumbai, 21st July 2022: Asking all the concerned departments and administrative apparatus to work in coordination so that ensuing festivities including 10-day Ganesh Festival, Dahi Handi and Moharram are celebrated with enthusiasm but with due peace and without any incident, chief minister Eknath Shinde asked Police department to effectively maintain law and order in the state and directed all the district administrations to immediately ensure that all the necessary permissions for the Ganesh Festival are given with single window system.

Chief Minister Shinde chaired a review meeting regarding law and order situation and other arrangements in view of ensuing festivities including Ganesh Festival, Dahi Handi and Moharram. The meeting held at Sahyadri Guest House was also attended by deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Reminding that the state was under the clouds of Corona for the last two years, chief minister Shinde said that it prevented celebrating all these festivities which is why this year all kinds of cooperation would be extended to Ganesh Mandals so that all these festivities are celebrated in a big way. He appealed to celebrate Ganesh Festival in an eco-friendly manner and depict decorations which would promote social reforms and social unity. He also directed the district administration and police department to maintain law and order situation in the state during these festivities.

Chief Minister Shinde directed immediate measures to fill up the potholes on the roads before the 10-day Ganesh Festival and also ensure planning for providing adequate buses for people going to Konkan for celebrating festivals.

In addition to making arrangements for online registration of new Ganesh Mandals, the chief minister directed to waive registration fees for new Ganesh Mandals and asked the police department to do away with availing written guarantee from the Ganesh Mandals.

Ganesh Festival is celebrated with the aim of social unity and while abiding by the administration of the rule need not stretch too far.

Stating that the set of rules would remain uniform throughout the state while celebrating festivals he directed district administrations to appoint coordination officers for these celebrations.

Expressing the need for adequate power supply in Mumbai at immersion places he said that this year the height restrictions for the Ganesh idols have been done away with. Assuring that the state Government was positive to sort out issues faced by sculptors since they have few problems, the chief minister Shinde directed them to take necessary action with respect to making available spaces for keeping the idols for sculptors and easing out a few of their problems.

Informing that a technical committee would be appointed to take decision regarding POP idols he said that it would include expert representatives from reputed institutions like Maharashtra Pollution Control Board, National environment engineering Research Institute (NEERI), IIT, NCL and the committee would come out with eco-friendly solution on this issue.

He asked the police department to take necessary steps to withdraw cases against Ganesh Mandals and their Karyakartas or workers, who are registered for sound pollution and other issues. The chief minister also directed to decide on a policy so that an award scheme is started for the Ganesh Mandals. He also appealed to abide by Court guidelines regarding minors during the celebration of Dahi Handi festivity.

Deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis said that Ganesh Festival is an important festivity and the administration needs to cooperate for celebrations. He asked to sort out issues faced by Ganesh Mandals with mutual cooperation.
