No Stampede At Jejuri Temple, Four Devotees Suffered Minor Injuries While Waiting In Line For Darshan : Pune ZP

Pune 18th July 2023: The Pune Zila Parishad has clarified that there was no stampede like situation at Jejuri temple on Monday as claimed in a news. Hovewer, the officials have also said that four devotees who were standing in queue for ‘darshan’ suffered minor injuries and they are being treated at the hospital.

It may be noted that a new regarding stempade like situation during ‘Somavati Amavasya’ at Jejuri temple on Monday was published in which it was claimed that people sustained injuries and over 4 lakh devotees were present at the temple. However, the ZP officials in an official statement has denied of any stempade like situation.

“A news is doing round that there was a “stampede” at Jejuri Yesterday. We wish to clarify that there was no stampede. Stampede is defined as “situation in which a large number of people start running in the same direction due to a single trigger” Pune ZP said in a statement.

“Around 2 PM yesterday (on Monday), four devotees who were waiting in line for their darshan suffered minor injuries in form of blunt trauma. 108 Emergency services was pressed into service and two patients, aged about 23 and 30 years, were immediately shifted to Jejuri Rural Hospital. After initial treatment and stabilisation, they were shifted to Anandi Hospital at Jejuri. Our medical teams are in constant touch with the treating doctors. All patients are stable and not in any form of danger. Best of medical care is being provided” the statement added.
