No strict lockdown in Pune, Pimpri Chinchwad from tomorrow: District Collector

Pune, 23 July 2020: District Collector Naval Kishore Ram today announced there will be no strict lockdown from tomorrow in Pune, Pimpri Chinchwad and 23 neighbouring Gram Panchayat areas. The 10-days (July 14-23) strict lockdown ends today.

“We will have the same situation as it was before July 14. The state lockdown guidelines will be followed till July 31”, Ram informed.

The officer on special duty for COVID, Saurabh Rao, said, “In the last four weeks we have been conducting aggressive testing in the district. We have done the highest testing for any city or district in the country.”

Rao added, “In the last 10-days lockdown, PMC established 4,000 beds at COVID Care Centre. Dalvi Hospital, Naidu Hospital and Sassoon hospital have also increased beds. Budhrani Hospital and Ruby Hall have also increased beds. Today we also held a meeting with representatives of major hospitals.”

He further informed that jumbo COVID facility on the lines of those in Mumbai will be established in Pune district. “We have floated tender for the jumbo facility which is expected to be functional by August 15-20”, Rao said.

 

The recovery rate in Pune city is 59.17% while the death rate is 2.5%. In Pimpri Chinchwad the death rate is 2.5%. As per the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), the death rate has to be brought under 1%, said Rao.
