Pune: Triple amputee creates a record by performing highest bungee jump

Pune, 23 July 2020: City-based Tinkesh Kaushik, has become the first Asian triple amputee to swing bungee jump. He has recently set a record new when he swung bungee jump from a height of 160 meters at The Last Resort which is the highest canyon swing site in the world. 

Tinkesh, who hails from Haryana, lost both his lower limbs below the knee and his left upper limb above the shoulder in an electrocution accident when he was nine years old. For his recent achievement in bungee jumping, he has been featured in the 2020 edition of Limca book of world record. 

His disability did not stop him from achieving greater heights. Against all odds, with the unwavering support of his family, he completed his graduation in 2015 and came to Pune. Tinkesh was fascinated by the health and fitness industry. 

Tinkesh said, “I always liked adventure, sports, and fitness. But there was a time when I had gained a lot of weight. I worked on it a lot and reduced around 15 kg of weight in around a month. Post this, with the help of artificial foot, I even participated in the marathon, cycling expeditions, etc. Currently, I am taking online fitness training workshops.”

When asked about the new record in bungee jumping, he said, “I just needed some motivation, prepared myself mentally and went with the flow and succeeded by making a record jump.”  

Sancheti Institute of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation from Pune recently hired him as a mentor and trainer to patients who undergo amputations. He councils the patients and even motivates them to be physically active by teaching them mobilization adaption techniques. 

Salil Jain, from Sancheti hospital Pune, who made a prosthetics for him said, “With the help of prosthetics he has done many adventurous activities. He is a real motivation for many who are using such prosthetics.”
