No student in the state  will be denied educational opportunities – Ashish Shelar

Mumbai, June 20, 2019 : The Minister for School Education Shri Ashish Shelar today assured the Legislative Council during the zero hour that no student will be denied to obtain education under the Right to Education Act. Shri Shlear further stated that the process of admission to twenty five percent seats in the private schools which are reserved for the children in the deprived and weaker sections, under the Right to Education Act. will be completed in the state by 31st of July.

Shri Shelar further stated that one lakh sixteen thousand seven hundred seventy nine seats have been reserved under the Right to Education Act Two lakhs forty four thousand nine hundred thirty four applications are received for these seats. Admission process in case of fifty thousand five hundred five children is completed till date. The remaining process will be completed by 31st of July. The remaining students other than those admitted under the Right to Education will be admitted to other schools .

He further stated that the admission process at the school level commenced when the Right to Education Act came into force in the year 2009. Thereafter this admission process went online since the year 2015-16. A provision of Rs one hundred fifty crores has been effected in the budget by the Government for reimbursement of the school fees and fifty percent of the school fees has been reimbursed for the educational year 2017-18 and the reimbursement of the the fees for the year 2018-19 is yet to be effected. He stated that the process for the same is underway. .

Member Shri Prakash Gajbhiye had raised a question with respect to the pending reimbursement of fees under the Right to Education Act. . Members Shri Hemant Takale,, shri Rahul Narvekar, Advocate Anil Parab participated in the discussion that ensued.
