New Delhi, 16th August 2021: The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has confirmed that to make Baal Aadhaar only the birth certificate of the child or the Aadhar card of one of the parents is required along with the discharge slip received from the hospital is required. From this, it becomes clear that if the parents don’t need to wait till they get the birth certificate to get their child’s Aadhaar.

For children below five years of age, a blue colored Aadhaar card is made. It is called Baal Aadhaar. Now according to the new rule, no biometric details will be required for children below the age of five years. However, once the child attains the age of five years, it becomes necessary to update the biometrics.

The Unique Identification Authority of India in a tweet said, “Fingerprint and iris scans are not done at the time of Aadhaar registration of children below the age of five years. Just one photo is enough. Biometric update is mandatory after the child attains the age of five years.”
