Now complete shutdown for 2 days in Pune Cantonment areas from tomorrow

Pune, May 8, 2020: The Pune Cantonment Board (PCB) has taken a decision today to observe complete shutdown for the next two days considering the rising number of Coronavirus positive cases. Out of 57 total COVID positive patients, one has died while six have been cured and discharged from hospital.

PCB CEO Amit Kumar has issued a public notice in this regard. “In view of the increasing number of COVID 19 positive cases in the Cantonment area, it has been unanimously decided in the meeting held in the Board office today i.e. on 8th May 2020, to observe 2 days complete lockdown in the Pune Cantonment area on 9th and 10th May 2020”, the notice states. The CEO has been declared has Incident Commander by the Pune District Collector for taking steps to stop the spread of Coronavirus.

“In view of the exponential rise in Covid positive cases in the last few days, particularly in New Modikhana area. Covid positive cases have also been reported in Ghorpuri, Fatima Nagar, Sholapur Bazar, Dastur Meher Road and Bhimpura. This (shutdown) is essential to containing the further spread of virus. Only medical shops will be allowed to remain open. The police department is required to ensure implementation of the same, while the general public is requested to follow total lockdown strictly”, the notice further informed.
