Pune, May 8, 2020: In a major relief for people, Pune city police have stopped checking vehicles outside the containment zones. A few days back, Pune District Collector Naval Kishore Ram had issued an order to petrol pumps to sell petrol, diesel without asking for any pass. However, the police insisted on taking a pass for vehicle use.

It seems cops have now taken U-turn and only putting restrictions in the containment zones declared by Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) in areas where very high numbers of Coronavirus positive patients have been detected. There are 69 such places have been marked in Pune city areas.

Since March, Pune police had stopped vehicle movement without a pass. And the pass was being issued on a case to case basis depending on nature of emergency and urgency. But this news has brought a sigh of relief to Punekars as the state government has allowed opening many non-essential shops also 33% of employees in IT/ITES sectors have been allowed to go to offices.
