Now District-Level CM Relief Fund Cell to Aid Health and Disaster Victims in Pune

Pune, 1st May 2025: In a move aimed at bringing critical health and disaster relief assistance closer to citizens, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Pune Guardian Minister Ajit Pawar on Thursday inaugurated the District-Level Chief Minister’s Relief Fund Cell via video conferencing from Pune Police HQ in Shivajinagar.
This initiative marks the beginning of a statewide rollout of such relief cells, designed to provide prompt financial and logistical support to people suffering from serious illnesses or impacted by calamities.
“Ensuring the health and wellbeing of our citizens is a top priority. These district-level cells will help streamline access to medical and disaster relief benefits directly at the local level,” said Pawar during the virtual inauguration. “Pune’s citizens will greatly benefit from the dedicated assistance and faster processing made possible through this system.”
Senior Officials Join Inauguration
A host of senior officials and dignitaries were present at the event, including MLA Bapusaheb Pathare, Divisional Commissioner Dr. Chandrakant Pulkundwar, PMC Commissioner Dr. Rajendra Bhosale, Land Records Director Dr. Suhas Diwase, Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissioner Vinay Kumar Choubey, Education Commissioner Sachindra Pratap Singh, and Sports Commissioner Suraj Mandhare. Others present included MahaMetro MD Shravan Hardikar, PMRDA CEO Yogesh Mhase, District Collector Jitendra Dudi, Superintendent of Police Pankaj Deshmukh, and Zilla Parishad CEO Gajanan Patil.
Relief Fund Cell Details
Located at Room No. 10 on the ground floor of the Old Zilla Parishad building, the newly launched cell will function under the supervision of the District Collector’s Office. Staffed with a full-time medical officer, a social service superintendent, a clerk, and a coordinator, the cell is equipped to assist citizens in navigating health-related financial aid and disaster compensation.
Information boards highlighting government medical services and health schemes have been installed for public awareness. Patient-friendly amenities such as seating arrangements, drinking water, and clean toilet facilities have also been ensured to make visits less stressful for families seeking help.
On-the-Ground Inspection
Following the inauguration, Resident Deputy District Magistrate Jyoti Kadam visited the new ward to inspect its functioning. She was welcomed by Medical Officer Dr. Mansingh Sable and interacted with staff members to understand the workflow and readiness of the unit.
The district administration believes that this grassroots-level initiative will speed up access to government aid for those in medical and financial distress, thereby reinforcing the government’s commitment to inclusive healthcare and responsive governance.
