Pune, November 4, 2020: The medical officers of BJ Government Medical College and Sassoon Hospital have come forward in support of the 69 assistant professors of the college who have applied for ‘mass leave’ to mark their indefinite strike. The medical officers have extended their full support to the protest by tying a black ribbon on duty starting from Tuesday. As like the assistant professors, the medical officers have quoted similar demands of permanent appointment and providing seventh pay commission.

The assistant professors have called for an indefinite strike because of the unresolved pending issues including making temporary employees permanent and bringing them on the seventh pay commission ambit. Upholding similar demands, the medical officers have too claimed that their issues are pending and not addressed by the administration. They have also stated that if the administration fails to meet their demands, the medical officers will also put a ‘mass common leave’ and stop working from November 9.

Among the four demands put forth by the medical officers, two are; transform temporary appointments of medical officers into permanent appointments and join accordingly. All the temporary appointed medical officers should be given the seventh pay commission and it should be effective from the day one of their service, accordingly arrears are to be given.
