Pune, 24th November 2025: An all-party delegation on Monday raised concerns over the draft voter lists released for the upcoming municipal elections, claiming they contain significant errors and should be corrected before the election process begins.

The delegation met with Additional Commissioner Omprakash Divate to highlight discrepancies in the voter lists. They alleged that many names have been assigned to the wrong wards, while some rural residents have erroneously appeared in municipal lists.

MLA Bapu Pathare, Prashant Jagtap, Arvind Shinde, Sanjay More, Sainath Babar, Arvind Tayde, along with office bearers of several political parties, were present at the meeting.

The delegation pointed out that the Municipal Commissioner has acknowledged over three lakh duplicate entries in the published voter lists. They warned that misplacement of names in distant wards could create serious difficulties for voters and suggested that the administration may be acting under pressure from the ruling elite.

They also criticized the short objection period provided for voters and demanded that elections should only proceed after all errors are corrected.

Responding to the concerns, Additional Commissioner Divate said, “We have received complaints from the delegation that the names of voters have been entered in the wrong wards. We have taken note of these matters and instructed the officials to make corrections.”

The opposition has made it clear that holding elections without rectifying the voter lists would not be acceptable, intensifying the debate over electoral preparedness in Pune.
