Rajgurunagar, January 24, 2021: Member of Legislative assembly (MLA) Dilip Mohite-Patil of Khed Taluka in Pune district, asked the state government to reconsider the airport construction plan at Khed. Earlier people had a misconception about the construction, but now everyone will be happy to have the airport in Khed Tehsil, said Mohite-Patil.

Originally it was decided to build the new airport in Khed taluka. However, the technical expert committee of the airport authority, after studying the various aspects for airport construction at Khed reported that there are some technical issues to build an airport at Khed. Therefore the new airport site was shifted to Purandar tehsil. Recently it is receiving opposition from the people of Purandar tehsil and the airport authority is still struggling with the land issue.

MLA Mohite-Patil said, “Nowadays technology is advancing. We have built the airport on islands and in the mountainous area and some other difficult terrain. So we can also build the airport at SEZ zone in Khed tehsil with the help of advanced technology. It will help the people working at  Ranjangaon- Chakan-Bhosari MIDC area. Therefore we have requested the state government to reconsider the original plan for setting up the airport in Khed Tehsil.”
