Orange Alert Issued for Pune and Surrounding Districts Amid Forecast of Thunderstorms and Gusty Winds

Pune, 27th May 2025: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Pune district, warning of potential thunderstorms accompanied by light to moderate rainfall and strong winds reaching speeds of 40–50 km/h. The alert, issued at 7 am is effective for 3-4 hours and extends to several districts across Maharashtra.

According to the IMD, the weather activity is expected to impact parts of Ahmednagar, Kolhapur, Mumbai, Mumbai Suburban, Palghar, Parbhani, Pune, Sangli, Satara, and Thane in the next three hours. Citizens in these areas are advised to remain vigilant and avoid unnecessary outdoor movement, especially in open spaces or near weak structures.
