Senior Citizen Rescued from Stuck Lift in Pune’s Market Yard

Market Yard, 27th May 2025: A senior citizen was rescued safely after being trapped in a malfunctioning lift for nearly 30 minutes at a hotel in Market Yard last night.

According to officials, the incident occurred around midnight at Nandanvan Hotel and Lodging, a four-storey building near the Market Yard area. A fire engine from the Gangadham Fire Station was immediately dispatched after receiving an emergency call reporting that a senior citizen was stuck on the second floor due to a lift failure.

Upon reaching the site, the fire personnel first established communication with the trapped individual to calm and reassure him. The team then accessed the lift room, manually operated the system, and managed to safely rescue the senior citizen within five minutes of their arrival.

The rescued individual, identified as hotel manager Ravi Kasegaonkar, expressed gratitude to the fire brigade team for their prompt and efficient action.

The rescue operation was carried out by Tandel Manish Bombale, driver Prasad Shinde, and firemen Dnyaneshwar Kadam, Akshay Mondhe, Dhananjay Bhise, Mandar Nalawade, and Ajit Tekawade from the Gangadham Fire Station.

Officials have urged building owners to ensure regular maintenance of lift systems to prevent such incidents.
