Pune, 06 June 2025: The Centralised Admission Process (CAP) for first-year junior college (FYJC) admissions in Maharashtra closed with a massive turnout, as more than 12.7 lakh students completed their registrations for the academic year 2025–26. The registration portal officially closed on Thursday afternoon, marking the end of the initial application phase.

Students who have successfully filled out and locked both Part I and Part II of the application will be eligible for seat allocation in the first round. The first general merit list is scheduled to be released on June 10, and students can check their allotment status online.

“The process was executed without any major technical issues. Students, their parents, and school staff showed remarkable cooperation throughout the process,” said Shriram Panzade, Secondary Education Officer.

Among the regional divisions, Mumbai recorded the highest number of applications with over 2.9 lakh students registering. Pune followed with close to 2.2 lakh applications, reflecting strong participation in urban centres. Other divisions such as Nagpur, Nashik, Kolhapur, and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar also witnessed high levels of engagement.
According to CAP committee officials, a provisional merit list will be released on Thursday, allowing students to verify their details and make corrections if needed. The deadline to raise objections or request edits to the application is Saturday.

This year’s admission cycle involves 9,281 junior colleges across Maharashtra, collectively offering around 20 lakh seats for Class XI students. Officials have urged applicants to double-check all information to avoid discrepancies during allotment.

The CAP portal will now transition to the next stage, which includes scrutiny, allotment, and counselling phases in the days following the publication of merit lists.
