Over 20 Lakh Commuters Take Pune Metro Ride In August, PCMC Metro Station Records Highest Ridership
Pune 31st August 2023: The Pune Metro has received a good response in August month especially after the launch of two extended routes in the first week of this month. According to Metro officials, a total of 20,40,484 commuters travelled in Pune Metro between August 1 and August 31 (upto 4pm). This helped Metro officials to earn a revenue of Rs 3,07,66,481, said officials.
The average daily ridership of 65,822 was recorded on all functional routes of Pune Metro during this period through which the Metro earned a revenue of Rs 9,78,783 every day. Sunday turned out to be the most busy day for Metro officials as it received a good response from commuters. According to Metro officials, an average of over 1 lakh passengers travelled in Pune Metro on all Sundays in August month. Highest ridership of the day was recorded on August 15 as a total of 1,69,512 people used the service in a day by setting a new record.
On the PCMC to Civil Court Metro Station route, the highest ridership of 2,00,003 commuters was recorded at PCMC Metro Station while the lowest ridership of 10,432 was recorded at Kasarwadi Metro Station in a month. Similarly, on the Vanaz to Ruby Hall Clinic route the highest ridership of 1,53,235 commuters was recorded at Vanaz Metro Station while the lowest ridership of 20,512 was recorded at Ideal Colony Metro Station.
Majority of commuters in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad preferred to pay their metro ticket fare by online mode of payment as around 53.41% of them opted to electronic payment. Pune Metro’s ‘One Pune Card’ has also received a good response as a total of 11,000 cards have been sold since its launch.
It may be noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi on August 1 inaugurated the two extended routes of Pune Metro between Garware College to Ruby Hall Cilin Metro Station via Civil Court and Civil Court Metro Station to PCMC
