Over 20 Lakh People Traveled by Pune Metro During Ganeshotsav
Pune, 19th September 2024: Ganeshotsav is a major attraction across the country, and Pune is no exception. The city witnesses a massive influx of visitors during this festival, with many people traveling from outside Pune to experience its rich traditions and culture. Punekars also traverse the city to visit various Ganpati Mandals and enjoy the festive decorations.
During the ten days of Ganeshotsav, a significant number of citizens opted for the Metro as their mode of transport. From 7th September to 17th September 2024, a total of 20,44,342 passengers traveled by Metro.
On Anant Chaturdashi, 17th September 2024, a record-breaking 3,46,633 passengers traveled between 6:00 AM and 6:00 AM the next day (18th September), generating revenue of ₹54,92,412.
As Pune Metro expands, passenger response has been consistently positive. The Vanaz to Ramwadi and Pimpri Chinchwad to District Court routes have seen particularly high usage. The Vanaz to Ramwadi route, in particular, has contributed significantly to Metro’s revenue. To accommodate nighttime travelers, Metro services were extended to 12:00 AM and later to 2:00 AM during the festival.

Ganeshotsav Opening Day (7th September): 1,17,723 passengers traveled, generating revenue of ₹14,46,150.
Saturday (14th September): 2,43,435 passengers traveled, generating ₹29,73,589 in revenue.
Sunday (15th September): 2,25,644 passengers traveled, generating ₹27,95,432 in revenue.
Monday (16th September): 1,66,534 passengers traveled, generating ₹28,09,649 in revenue.
