Over 25 Lakh Consumers In Pune Yet To Pay MSEDCL’S Additional Security Deposit Worth Rs 1,487 Crore
Pune 10th August 2023: The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Corporation Limited (MSEDCL) has appealed the consumers in Pune district and region to make the payments of their additional security deposits as the pending amount has gone high. According to the officials, a total of 25,81,014 consumers in Pune district are yet to pay an additional security despite of Rs 1,487.82 Crore.
The highest pending amount of the security deposit in the division is of the Pune district. According to the official data, 4.84 lakh consumers in Satara, 5.57 in Solapur, 7.33 lakh in Kolhapur and 4.94 lakh consumers in Sangli have not paid the security deposit to the MSEDCL. The total of pending amount from consumers of all these districts including Pune has reached Rs 2,352.59 Crore.
This includes Rs 1,853.07 Crore pending from low tension domestic, industrial and commercial consumers while Rs 499.52 Crore is pending from high tension supply consumers.
“A notice of 30 days will be given by the electricity distribution company to all customers to pay the security deposit. If the deposit is not paid even after this period, the utility company reserves the right to discontinue the electricity supply to the concerned parties” said MSEDCL in a statement.
“In western Maharashtra, separate bills were issued in the months of April and May along with the electricity bills for both low and high tension electricity consumers to collect additional security deposits” the MSEDCL further stated. The consumers have also been given an option to pay the additional security deposit in six month EMIs.
