Over 70,000 Candidates Including Doctors Apply For 800 Positions Of Constable And Driver In Pune Police, Highlights Issue Of Unemployment
Pune, 12th January 2023: The 3,238 highly qualified applicants for the constable and driver positions with the Pune police range from homoeopaths and holders of degrees in ayurveda to postgraduates and graduates in law, management, computer application, and science, suggesting the desperation of job seekers, especially from rural Maharashtra, for stability.
Passing Standard 12 is the prerequisite for applying to the positions of constable and driver. For 72 driver positions and 720 constable positions, 73,242 applicants have applied. The hiring procedure for drivers began on 3rd January, and it will commence for constables on 18th January.
Ramnath Pokale, additional commissioner of police (crime) who oversaw the hiring process, said that candidates with bachelor’s or master’s degrees who are applying for constable or driver positions are knowledgeable in their respective disciplines. They excel in written and physical tests in addition to being intelligent. Their physical fitness satisfies police force standards. They are eligible to take competitive exams like the MPSC and UPSC.
Many applicants have stated that they are applying for these positions due to a lack of other opportunities after the pandemic, financial issues, or to earn some income as they prepare for competitive exams.
