The anganwadi teachers are facing difficulties due to this as their equipment such as computers have been non-functional for over a week and the children also have to suffer as they are forced to sit in the dark without fans. According to officials, many of these anganwadis are run from community halls of the gram panchayats and the pending bills were supposed to be paid by the concerned gram panchayat but due to lack of funds the bills were not paid following which the MSEDCL disconnected their connection.

A total of around 4,384 Anganwadis are located in the jurisdiction of Pune Zilla Parishad of which 860 are accommodated in the gram panchayat’s community halls. The gram panchayat members of these villages claim that they have not received funds from the state government or local bodies despite making several requests due to which they failed to make the payment to MSEDCL in time.
