Pune: PMC Employee Held For Taking Bribe, Case Registered

Pune 23rd August 2023: The Anti-Corruption Bureau officials of Pune division have arrested a man working with the Pune Municipal Corporation for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 4,000 from a driver. The ACB officials have nabbed a 57-year-old person identified as Pandurang Sadhu Lonkar in the case.

According to the complaint, the accused works at the vehicle depot of PMC’s Gultekdi while the complainant is a contractual driver working in the same depot. The accused had demanded Rs 4,000 from the complainant to allot work following which he approached the ACB officials.

After verifying the details, the ACB team laid a trap and the accused was nabbed while accepting the bribe. A case in this regard was registered at Khadak Police Station under relevant sections. The officials are investigating further in the matter. It may be noted that Pune division was reported to be the second highest division in Maharashtra for the number of bribery cases reported till August this year while Nashik division ranked first in the state.
