Pakistani Rangers Return BSF Constable at Attari-Wagah Border

Amritsar, 14th May 2025: In a significant development, Border Security Force (BSF) constable Purnam Kumar Shaw, who had been in the custody of Pakistan Rangers since April 23, 2025, was handed back to Indian authorities on Wednesday morning.

The handover took place around 10:30 am at the Joint Check Post at Attari, Amritsar, through the Wagah border. According to officials, the return was carried out peacefully and followed established protocols between the two border forces.

Shaw is currently undergoing debriefing by Indian authorities.
The BSF, in an official press release, confirmed the development and stated, “BSF jawan Purnam Kumar Shaw, who had been in the custody of Pakistan Rangers since 23 April 2025, was handed over to India at about 1030 hours through the Joint Check Post Attari, Amritsar. The handover was conducted peacefully and in accordance with established protocols.”

Further details regarding the circumstances of Shaw’s detention or the conditions of his custody have not been disclosed yet.
