Pune, 01 December 2022 : Paranjape Schemes, one of the leading real-estate developers from Maharashtra, known for its pioneering and most successful effort in housing for senior citizens, is coming up with yet another path breaking concept, this time with focus on the needs of special children and their parents. ‘Swaniketan’, a first of its kind initiative in India was announced by Paranjape Schemes Managing Director Shashank Paranjape at a press conference on Thursday.

“Children with Autism, Down syndrome, Intellectual Disability and Cerebral Palsy and especially their parents face a lot of difficulties in their daily lives. The parents want their children to be incorporated into the main society. I have seen such parents facing multiple challenges and hence ‘Swaniketan’ concept came up for fulfilling their needs and providing them respite,” said Shashank Paranjape.

Giving details of the project, Shashank Paranjape said, “With a view to have a gated community for special children and their parents in western Pune, we are implementing this futuristic project, which will have 2 and 3 BHK flats”.

“The 240 flats in the two-phased project are reserved only for parents of special children. We will provide all the necessary facilities to special children, including health facilities. The project will house an early intervention centre, 24×7 respite centre, vocational centre and hostel for the special children. All these centres will be equipped with experts and caretakers,” elaborated Shashank Paranjape.

“We will not only provide the facilities, but also ensure that the facilities are operational. We have also joined hands with members of Forum for Autism and Saad, who have formed an association named ‘FFL Kutumb’, which will see the management and operations of Swaniketan,” said Shashank Paranjape.

The unique, path-breaking residential project will be developed in two phases, with 120 flats in each phase. We intend to begin work on the first phase in February 2023 and expect to complete it in the next two and half to three years, he maintained.

The project has been designed very carefully considering the requirements of special children and their parents, which will enable the special children to become more independent, which in turn will give their parents a better dignified lifestyle.

Paranjape Schemes initiated a special housing project ‘Athashri’ for senior citizens in 2000. Through it, various complexes for senior citizens came up in different parts of Pune – 2 in Bavdhan, Pashan, Baner, Bhugaon, Hinjewadi, Balewadi and Hadapsar. Such complexes are operational in Vadodara and Bengaluru also, which are running successfully.
