Pune, 15 November 2016: Paranjape Schemes (Construction) Limited (PSCL) , among the most reliable names in the real estate development business, pioneered the concept of dedicated housing for senior citizens in the form of Athashri projects.

The company went on to deliver Athashri projects in Pune and other locations in Maharashtra and is now poised to create Athashri Valley – a 35 acre comprehensive, integrated township exclusively for senior citizens, within its project Forest Trails.

The company has signed up former Indian cricketing legend Sunil Gavaskar – as the brand ambassador for Athashri.

PSCL Managing Director Shashank Paranjape announced the initiative in a press conference on Tuesday amid presence of Gavaskar himself and PSCL Chairman Shrikant Paranjape with Sudesh Khatavkar, chief executive officer of the company’s Athashri vertical.

Speaking on the occasion, Indian cricketing legend Sunil Gavaskar said, “I too have a senior citizen at look after at home. My mother is 91 years old. Fortunately, I can take care of her and can fulfil her day to day requirements. However, there are many people in our society who are unable to do so. Thus, ‘Athashri’ is an ideal concept of providing a well-suited home to our senior citizens. I feel that our country needs more such ‘Athashri’ homes instead of old age homes in today’s date; So that even senior citizens can live their own life without being dependent on anyone.”

Elaborating on Athashri – an integrated township being developed for the first time in India for senior citizens, Mr Paranjape said, “We intended to create a complete township keeping in mind the needs and expectations of senior citizens. We have earlier developed many senior living projects in the last decade or so, and more than 1500 senior citizens are dwelling in these projects as of today. Athashri Valley – part of our Forest Trails project at Bhugaon near Pune is the next step in our initiatives for senior living.”

The sprawling 35-acre township will comprise 358 apartments of one and two bedrooms.

The company has built and delivered as many as 250 of these apartments and have on offer another 358. True to the Athashri format, this township too will have health facilities and amenities including an efficient security system, cafeteria and a shuttle bus service to important spots in Pune.

Additionally, the project will have a library, gaming zone, mini golf, tennis court and indoor games such as carrom and chess. There will be essential shopping for the convenience of the residents and two club houses, a creative centre as well as features like rose garden and herbal garden and among the highlights of the health facilities will be a mini hospital, a memory care unit and assisted living centre, Mr Paranjape said.

Besides this, the company is also offering Athashri Balewadi project in Pune’s Balewadi area where it will develop 95 apartments of one and two bedrooms.

PSCL has developed Athashri projects in cities like Bengaluru and Pune. The areas include Pashan, Baner, Bavdhan, Hadapsar and Bhugaon in Pune. PSCL also has under construction projects in Vadodara. The company also plans to develop Athashri projects in Nashik, Goa, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Gurgaon, Chennai, Indore and some locations near Mumbai.

PSCL also has plans to develop Athashri project in Hayward a city in California, United States. The project will come in an area of over 5 acres and offer 200 housing units with one, two and three bedroom options. The project will provide complete infrastructure to suit the American lifestyle, Mr Paranjape said.

The company has organised between 18-20 November Options Unlimited – a residential realty show at Pune’s Siddhi Garden along DP Road near Mhatre Bridge. The show will be open between 10 am and 8 pm on all three days. There will be a ‘Senior Living Expo’ within the show which will have 40 stalls displaying gadgets, smart home technologies, health care services, furniture and banking relevant to senior citizens. In addition, there will be talk shows and workshop on health, lifestyle and personal finance. Senior citizens doing great work in social service will be felicitated during the event.

The senior living expo will also witness a musical programme by Pt. Hridaynath Mangeshkar on 18 November and a comedy show by Deepak Deshpande – known as the first laughter king of Zee Marathi television channel. The programmes in senior living expo will be free of charge.
