Pune, 22nd August 2023: Following the route adjustment of the Vanaj to Ramwadi metro line, the absence of parking facilities near the metro stations has raised concerns. To address this issue, a joint committee comprising officials from the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Mahametro will be established. The committee will conduct site inspections to identify suitable locations for parking lots, aiming to alleviate passenger inconveniences.

In a meeting held today, representatives from both the Municipal Corporation and Mahametro deliberated on the pressing matter of inadequate parking availability near the metro stations, which has been causing inconvenience to commuters.

To preserve the historical significance of Aga Khan Palace, which is classified as a heritage site, the metro route had to be altered. Also, the metro, traversing through Jangli Maharaj Road, was rerouted through the riverbed toward the Municipal Corporation.

The diversion of the metro led it through Kalyaninagar from Yerwada on Nagar Road, ultimately reconnecting with Nagar Road at Ramwadi. This course adjustment also prompted changes in the metro station locations.

The metro service has commenced operations between Vanaj and Ruby Hall Clinic. Recognizing the need for adequate parking facilities for metro passengers, an examination of potential spaces along the route is underway. A dedicated committee, comprising two officials each from the Pune Municipal Corporation and Mahametro, will be formed to spearhead this initiative.

Project Department Head Srinivas Bonala affirmed that the Mahametro station will be developed within the municipal premises, providing a seamless commuting experience for passengers.
