Pune, 22nd August 2023: A water supply pipeline rupture in the Keshavnagar Mundhwa region led to a four-day ordeal for local residents, leaving them distressed due to the prolonged repair process. The civic authorities’ sluggish response to the situation has sparked discontent among citizens who were left without water for days. The water supply was only restored on Tuesday after a prolonged hiatus that began on Friday.

The issue was compounded when a sewage pipe burst behind the Nobel Hospital near Solapur Road, coinciding with ongoing repairs to a water pipeline. The simultaneous failures resulted in severe water supply disruptions affecting the Keshavnagar and Mundhwa areas.

Exasperated by the lack of communication and prompt action, residents turned to the water supply department officials for answers, only to be met with unsatisfactory responses. Despite assurances of water restoration during late hours, disappointed residents found themselves visiting the water tank at Keshavnagar, only to discover no personnel in attendance.

The delayed response prompted citizens to voice their frustration with the Municipal Corporation’s handling of the situation. The intervention of concerned citizens, who reached out to Anirudh Pavaskar, the Head of the Water Supply Department, eventually spurred action.

Following the complaints, Pavaskar initiated the repair process, leading to the eventual restoration of water supply in the affected region on Tuesday.

Highlighting the logistical challenges encountered during the repair process, Pavaskar explained, “The disruption in water supply to Keshavnagar Mundhwa was attributed to a damaged water channel. Given the road’s heavy daytime traffic, repair work was restricted to nighttime hours, leading to a certain degree of delay. As of today, the water supply has been reestablished smoothly.”
