Parliament IT Panel May Summon BeerBiceps Over Controversial Remarks

Mumbai, 11th February 2025: The Parliamentary Information Technology panel is considering summoning YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, popularly known as BeerBiceps, over his controversial comments on the show India’s Got Latent. This decision comes after multiple Members of Parliament filed complaints, and FIRs were lodged against both Allahbadia and comedian Samay Raina in connection with the contentious episode.
The video in question was taken down from YouTube following a government directive citing its provocative content.
Members of the panel, including BJD MP Sasmit Patra and Shiv Sena MP Priyanka Chaturvedi, have been actively addressing the issue. Chaturvedi condemned the use of inappropriate language in the episode, highlighting Allahbadia’s significant reach as an influencer who has hosted political figures and even received an award from the Prime Minister.
“Using offensive language under the guise of comedy is unacceptable. Having a platform does not give anyone the right to say anything without limits,” she remarked. The panel is expected to take swift action, underscoring the need for responsible behaviour on public platforms.
The controversy erupted over a question posed by Allahbadia to a contestant: “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once and stop it forever?” The remark sparked widespread outrage, leading Allahbadia to issue a public apology on social media. Acknowledging his lapse in judgment, he admitted that comedy is not his strength.
“My comment was not only inappropriate, but it also wasn’t even funny. I sincerely apologise,” he stated.
As the investigation unfolds, the Mumbai Police have summoned Allahbadia for questioning, with a team of officers visiting his residence in Versova. Meanwhile, the Assam Police have filed an FIR against the show’s judges and host, accusing them of promoting obscenity.
With a massive following of 4.5 million on Instagram and over 10 million subscribers on YouTube, the controversy has drawn significant attention. Politicians, including MP Sasmit Patra, have called for stricter regulations on digital content to prevent such incidents from influencing young audiences.
“This is extremely unfortunate. We need stricter guidelines and stronger measures to prevent such inappropriate remarks,” Patra emphasized, advocating for greater accountability in the digital space.
