Passenger injured in train robbery near Pune
Pune, March 1 : A woman passenger sustained injuries on her hands when unidentified robber attacked her with sharp weapon, while snatching her bag from window of a coach in Azad Hind Express at Daund, about 82 km from Pune on Tuesday morning.
The incident took place around 5.30 am when the Howrah Pune train had halted at outer signal.
Samiksha Sinha (25) and her mother Sampa Sinha (54) were sleeping on their berths in S-5 coach. The robber tried to steal the bag through the open window and they woke and resisted following which the robber attacked with a sharp weapon and Sampa Sinha got cut injuries on her hands.
When the train arrived at the Daund railway station, the police officials rushed her to a private hospital for treatment.
Police officials said that the Pune-Daund stretch has seen many robberies in the past. In this case also police are investigating why the train was stopped at the outer when platform was vacant on the station.
