Pune 6th August 2023: The Ministry of External Affairs is launching a new initiative to make passport appointments more accessible. Passport Seva Kendras (PSKs) and Post Office Passport Seva Kendras (POPSKs) in Pune will now remain open on the next four Saturdays, starting from August 12. During this time, applicants can book fresh appointments or reschedule existing ones under both ‘normal’ and ‘tatkaal’ categories.

To book a fresh appointment, applicants must fill out the application on the official website and make the payment online. After verifying the payment status, they can download the appointment confirmation receipt from the portal. For those applying under the tatkaal scheme, specific document requirements need to be fulfilled based on age, and eligibility criteria will be strictly enforced to avoid misuse.

Applicants are advised to ensure that all details, such as their name, date of birth, and father’s name, are consistent across all documents. Additionally, small cut-out Aadhar cards or smart cards from non-UIDAI entities will not be accepted. The tatkaal scheme is meant for urgent cases, and only eligible applicants should apply under this category.

If applicants are found ineligible on the day of their appointment, they can request to convert their tatkaal scheme application to a normal one and reschedule their appointments accordingly. To know more about the tatkaal scheme and its requirements, applicants are advised to carefully read the information and undertaking available on the official website.
