Payment Of Document Handling Fee Possible By All Debit, Credit Cards Now: Registration and Stamp Duty Department

While registering the document, the number of pages has to be calculated and paid for in cash. Often the buyer had to play tricks due to a lack of spare money. A fee of Rs 20 per page is charged at the office of the Sub-Registrar for registration. Therefore, the more pages of a document, the more fees the citizens have to pay. However, in many offices, citizens are being robbed by charging a fee of Rs 100. Against this backdrop, the facility of online payment of handling charges was introduced in 2018 on a pilot basis in Pune city and district.

After that, the implementation of this facility was started across the state in a phased manner. However, this facility was limited to SBI’s online system only. Therefore, the Registration and Stamp Duty Department has now introduced the facility of using all types of debit and credit cards for payment of document handling charges.

Inspector General of Registration and Controller of Stamps Shravan Hardikar said, “After Goods and Services Tax (GST), the Department of Registration and Stamp Duty is recognized as the highest revenue generating department for the state. After Corona, all affairs in the state have returned to normal status. Therefore, like the pre-corona period, currently, 9,500-10,000 documents are registered in the state every day. However, the facility of payment of bill handling charges could be paid only through SBI’s system. Citizens were suffering as not all citizens could have this facility of SBI. However, now citizens have got relief as the bill handling fee can be paid through all types of debit and credit cards.”

Only the SBI gateway option was available to citizens for payment of bill handling charges. However, now all types of debit and credit cards can be used to pay the bill handling fee. This facility has been started, and the department is trying to provide maximum services online.
