PCMC: 21 Special COVID-care centres to be set up with the capacity of 8400 beds

Pimpri, July 10, 2020:With the number of Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) patients increasing daily, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation( PCMC) is concerned about the shortage of beds. However, more beds are being arranged in anticipation of patient growth in the next few days.

Under this, at least 21 COVID care centres with a capacity of 8400 beds will be set up. Municipal Commissioner Shravan Hardikar has invited proposals from charitable organizations, non-governmental organizations, private hospitals, associations, and medical institutions to run COVID care centres.

The COVID Care Centers will be launched in three categories, namely A, B, and C. PCMC will provide ambulances, lab services, and biomedical waste disposal facilities for category A.

The operators of COVID-care centres will have to provide all the facilities like beds, PPE kit, oximeter, thermometer, N95, surgical instruments, sanitizer, and computers.

C category will be offered only lab service, biomedical waste, telephone, electricity, water, internet, stationery, medicine.

However, all the B category centre facilities will be provided by the Municipal Corporation, and the concerned institutions will only provide the workforce.

For these 21 COVID-care centres, 21 managers, 45 consultants, 318 doctors, 21 nursing in-charges, 350 staff nurses, 21 pharmacists, 330 warden boys or nurses, 402 workers, 30 computer or data entry operators, and 21 store managers will be available.
