Pimpri Chinchwad, July 30, 2020: Only if at least five COVID patients are found in a society or apartment, it will be declared a containment zone, said Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Shravan Hardikar.

According to PCMC, the total number of Coronavirus positive patients has reached 19,431, out of which 12,278 have been cured while 311 have died. There are 3,142 active patients who are still undergoing treatment. The number of COVID patients is expected to reach 50,000 by August 15.

The Commissioner answered all the queries housing societies members had regarding the declaration of containment zones. “To declare a society premises a containment zone, we need at least five COVID patients. If there are less than five positive patients, we will only sanitise those apartments,” said Hardikar.

The strategy for the containment zone will now be strictly implemented with nobody to leave or enter the containment zones.’ Everyone for themselves’ is the new strategy where the citizens will be required to take care of themselves to stop the further contamination, said PCMC commissioner.

With the Coronavirus (COVID-19) positive cases increasing daily in Pimpri Chinchwad city and rural areas as well, it is advised to all the citizens to practice social distancing and wear masks all the time, added Hardikar.
