PCMC: COVID positive patients can be home quarantine for 17 days

Pimpri, June 29, 2020: While coronavirus disease (COVID) cases are on rise, about 80 percent of the infected patients show asymptomatic. The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) administration is now planning to treat these patients at their home itself. The affected patients are being suggested home quarantine for 17 days, if they have a separate toilet, bathroom and a room to themselves.

The PCMC commissioner Shravan Hardikar stated on a Facebook live interaction that COVID positive persons will be asked to isolate at home and facilitated with treatment at home itself. A doctor will be always available to attend the patient, or their relatives can get in contact with the doctor whenever required. Isolation wards at private hospitals and hotels are also available.

Addressing the concern of the increasing number of COVID patients in the Pimpri-Chinchwad area, the commissioner stated that 80 percent of the patients showed aysmptomatic and only 20 percent showed acute symptoms of the virus. “At present 30 patients are on ventilator. Survey at slum areas and congested residencies is underway,” Hardikar told his viewers. He appealed to the citizens to abide by the restrictions and follow all the norms such as wearing masks and stay at home especially people in containment zones should avoid moving out except for essential needs. “Anyone suffering with cold, cough and fever, should visit a doctor. Consume nutritious food. If any infected patient is found in and around you, do not panic,” he added.

Warning the citizens to not spit in public spaces, Hardikar also informed that if found guilty the person will face criminal action. Also, those not wearing face masks will be fined Rs 500 for the first time. On repeated offence, the person will be fined Rs 1,000.

To survey senior citizens in the PCMC jurisdiction, the administration has been using PCMC app and Senior Citizens Sangh. Hardikar also informed that there are currently 12 identified hotspots in Pimpri-Chinchwad area. In order to curb the spread of the pandemic, the corporation has increased the testing of COVID with the help of private laboratories. The higher-up has also suggested the citizens to download PCMC smart city app through which citizens are enabled to contact doctors and quickly contain the spread.
