Reported by Mubarak Ansari
Pimpri, 22nd August 2025: The draft ward structure for the upcoming Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) elections was released on Friday, paving the way for the much-awaited polls. As in the 2017 elections, the city will have 32 wards with 128 corporators. Among them, Ward No. 9 has the highest population, while Ward No. 5 has the lowest.
Citizens can file objections or suggestions on the draft structure until September 4.
The Municipal Corporation has been under administrative rule since March 13, 2022, with the Commissioner functioning as administrator. Following a Supreme Court directive, local body elections in Maharashtra are now being scheduled. The PCMC polls will once again follow the four-member ward system.
Ward Formation Process
The draft ward structure has been based on the 2011 census population of 17,27,692. Officials said the wards have been designed in descending order, beginning from Talwade-Chikhli and ending in Sangvi-Dapodi.
The maps were prepared by correlating enumeration blocks with the help of Google Earth mapping. Physical inspections were also carried out wherever necessary. The draft structure was submitted to the state’s Urban Development Department on August 5 and later approved by the State Election Commission before being released publicly.
All 32 ward maps are now displayed at the PCMC headquarters for public viewing. Notably, the current ward design remains the same as in the February 2017 elections.
