PCMC – Grand Ganesh Visarjan Celebrations Unfazed by Rain in Pimpri-Chinchwad

Pimpri-Chinchwad, 28th September 2023: In a display of faith and festivity, 1,086 Ganesh mandals and countless families bid farewell to Lord Ganesha today during the Ganesh Visarjan procession, despite heavy rains that swept through the area around 4 PM.
The rain, although relentless, failed to dampen the spirits of devotees gathered at Pimpri’s Jhulelal Ghat and Chinchwad Ghat. In Pimpri, residents from neighborhoods such as Pimpri Gaon, Pimpri Camp, Kharalwadi, Sant Tukaram Nagar, Mahesh Nagar, Nehru Nagar, Masulkar Colony, Morwadi, and Mandai braved the weather to participate in the grand send-off.
Similarly, in Chinchwad, the celebrations knew no bounds as thousands flocked from areas like Chinchwad Gaon, Walhekarwadi, Kalewadi, Thergaon, station areas, Anand Nagar, Keshav Nagar, and Dalvi Nagar to partake in the joyous event.
To ensure the safety and security of the massive crowds, city police were strategically stationed along the procession routes. Decibel meters were employed to monitor noise levels, with strict penalties for those exceeding the limits.
Notably, every procession in Pimpri-Chinchwad was placed under video surveillance to maintain order and safety. The city’s crime branch had five teams on standby in civilian attire, prepared to address any potential criminal incidents. With over 2,000 police officers on duty, the community could partake in the celebrations with peace of mind.
Despite the unexpected rain, the spirit of devotion and unity prevailed as the community came together to bid farewell to Lord Ganesha, reinforcing the age-old tradition of Ganesh Visarjan in Pimpri-Chinchwad.
