PCMC Increase Inspection Of Construction Sites To Prevent Dengue Outbreak, 548 Construction Sites Inspected

Pimpri Chinchwad 13th July 2023: The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has intensified action to prevent the outbreak of dengue in the twin city. The PCMC officials are conducting inspections of various areas and notices are being issued.

As a preventive measure against mosquito-borne diseases, the municipal corporation has increased the number officials deputed for inspections in eight zones. In June and July, inspections of over one lakh residential and commercial establishments, including approximately 548 construction sites, have been completed. Additionally, regular inspections have been carried out on these establishments.

A total of 288 confirmed breeding sites and 539 potential breeding sites have been identified. The Health Department has issued notices to 287 residents and commercial establishments for permanently eliminating these breeding sites within two months, and the civic body has also imposed fines of Rs 57,000 on eight such establishments.

Yashwant Dange, Assistant Commissioner of the Health Department, stated that the municipal corporation has devised a plan to prevent the spread of dengue and held meetings with regional ward offices. They have been instructed to intensify the inspection campaign at the ward level.

Industrial establishments, construction sites, offices, households, and commercial shops, along with all establishments located in their vicinity, are required to immediately eliminate breeding sites for mosquitoes, failing which severe action will be taken, said Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh.

The municipal corporation has focused its attention on various construction sites in the city and has strated issuing notices to the concerned parties after conducting inspections. Failure to comply with the notices will result in legal action being taken against these establishments.

The Health Department has reported three cases of dengue in the past year until July 11. According to these reports, around 1,014 suspected cases of dengue-like symptoms have been identified from June to July.
