Pune: Alleged Religious Conversion Attempt, Case Registered Against Three Women In Pimpri Chinchwad
Pune, 11th July 2023: A case has emerged in Rahatani, Pimpri-Chinchwad, involving an alleged incident of attempted religious conversion. Wakad police station (Pimpri Chinchwad police) has registered a case against three women in connection with the matter. Notices have been issued to all three women by the police.
It is reported that these women repeatedly visited the home of the 39-year-old complainant woman, urging her to read the Bible and embrace the faith of Jesus Christ.
According to the police, the three women, Ruth Santosh Kamte, Puja Rajesh Kalal and Chandani Shiman Rathod, all residents of Wakad, persistently visited the complainant’s house, insisting that she convert to the belief in Jesus Christ while reading passages from the Bible. The complainant, often not receptive to their efforts, made it clear that he did not wish to engage in the matter. On Monday, around 3 pm, the three women forcefully entered the complainant’s house in Nakhatevasti area of Rahatani and attempted to pressure her into converting to the faith once again.
As the situation escalated, the complainant requested the women to leave the premises. However, when they refused to comply, the complainant sought assistance from her nephew to escort them out. Eventually, due to their reluctance to leave, the police were summoned.
Wakad police station has now registered a case against the women in question for offences under sections 341 (punishment for wrongful restrain), 448 (punishment for house trespass) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Senior Police Inspector Jawadwad confirmed that notices had been issued to all three individuals involved in the alleged attempt to influence the complainant’s religious beliefs. The accused had visited twice in the last one month.
Police officials said that the complainant belongs to the Hindu Mahar community and hails from Latur district. She works as a maidservant and stays with her family here.
