Dighi Gaon, July 5, 2020: Considering the rise in the COVID-19 cases at Dighi Gaon, Janta curfew will be observed on July 7th, 8th and 9th. This statement was issued on behalf of Dighi villagers to Police Sub Inspector Patil of Dighi police station, Pimpri Chinchwad police. The number of COVID patients has reached 45 in Dighi.

The statement stated, “100 percent closed, all kinds of shops including groceries and vegetables will be closed! Citizens should cooperate. Employees of private companies and government employees should take leave during this period to help prevent the outbreak.”

The areas under Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) observed a Janta curfew today as well, but many of the residents were unaware of this. Similarly, shops were open at PMT Chowk in Bhosari, Dighi Road, Alandi Road, Seva Road of Pune-Nashik Highway, Mini Market Chowk in Indrayani Nagar and Mamta Chowk Road area in Dighi. Shops in other areas, including Bhosari, were also open. Even in the rain, the citizens had crowded for shopping. As a result, there was a confusion in Bhosari, Indrayani Nagar and Dighi areas.

A bakery shop owner, speaking on condition of anonymity, said, “Due to the delay in announcing the curfew we opened the shop. So the bakery opened on Janta curfew as it was necessary to sell the milk to avoid financial loss.”

Some citizens also expressed the need to take action against the people and vendors who do not abide by the rules issued by the municipal corporation.
